How to Perfectly Steam-Boil a Quail Egg
Quail eggs are a delicious and nutritious treat, but their small size requires a slightly different cooking method than chicken eggs. Steaming them instead of boiling makes peeling a breeze! Follow these simple steps to achieve perfectly cooked quail eggs every time.
What You'll Need:
Fresh quail eggs
A pot with a lid
A steamer basket (or a makeshift one using a colander)
A bowl of ice water
Steps to Perfectly Steam-Boil Quail Eggs:
Heat the Water – Fill your pot with about an inch of water and bring it to a rolling boil.
Add the Eggs – Place the quail eggs in the steamer basket and carefully set it over the boiling water. Cover with a lid.
Steam to Perfection –
Soft-boiled:Â Steam for 4-5 minutes
Medium-boiled:Â Steam for 5-6 minutes
Hard-boiled:Â Steam for 6-7 minutes
Chill Immediately – Transfer the eggs to an ice bath and let them sit for about 5 minutes. This helps stop the cooking process and makes peeling easier.
Peel & Enjoy – Gently roll the egg on a hard surface to crack the shell, then peel under running water for the best results.
Now you have perfectly cooked quail eggs, ready to enjoy as a snack, salad topping, or pickled treat!
